I really envy these security forces guys. They are posted in Kashmir, which used to be a paradise. They are really having fun there. I hope you can see
the wide grin on the face of the BSF jawan lying on the ground, as he is surrounded by innocent 'civilians'. Do you also envy him his job?

But then, I am not the only one who is envious. And unlike me, who is just satisfied with pounding the keyboard to vent my envy, there are some who really take action.
One of them is Prashant Bhushan.
Don't tell me that you do not know, who Prashant Bhushan is? He is the new poster boy of the civil society.
Why?
Because he talks about human rights, silly. He got so worried about the violation of rights of 'civilians' that he, with a bunch of like minded 'human rights guys' and also 'gals' went all the way from Delhi to the heart of action. Kashmir, that is. They call themselves a group by the name of 'Center for Policy analysis'.

May be the security forces killed some innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters. May be he is right in filing a case in the supreme court of our country regarding the atrocities committed by the rogue elements in the forces.
If that is the case, every right minded citizens should support the cause. But, the sense of justice should be equally applicable for Kashmiri pandits
also, who have been the worst of sufferers. I will come to this point later. But first about Pakistan.
I am much younger then Prashant Bhushan but I have begun to realize that I am old fashioned compared to this eminent votary of human rights.
Let me explain. I think that anybody who says that we as a nation need to talk with Pakistan on Kashmir should be tried for treason and sedition
because it is our internal matter and Pakistan has no role to meddle in it. But our eminent lawyer is pretty broadminded on this count also. Sample

forces is not visible to them but they missed the lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits living in their own country as refugees. May be they are not to be counted
as humans and thus have no human rights. Am I right Prashant ji? 118 civilians were visible to you but you were unable to hear or see the anguish
of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits, killed, looted, ousted, raped and reduced to penury in their own country. But then, there are no Islamic, petro dollar
slushed organizations willing to sponsor such a visit to the ghettos where Kashmiri pandits are living.
Depending on your opinion, you could call him anti Hindu or pro Muslim. But if you have been bugged by the strange secularist's bug, you might call him
biased, at least. May be he is the kind of persons who do not like blaming a particular religion and its ideology. May be.

from (SIMI) Tanzeem had helped them to get the suitcase cover stitched. SIMI leader Abdul Razak had helped the Pakistanis in the Samjhauta Express
blasts.

Swami Agnivesh, addressing a press conference in Srinagar said, it has become clear during the protests in 2010 that there was no hand of Pakistan
and Lashker-e-Toiba in instigating any disturbance in Kashmir. € ¢â’ ’¼ It was in no way fuelled by LeT or Pakistan. The Indian civil society has realized it,€ ¢â’ ’½
he added.
Seema Mustafa deplored that the government of India had not taken a single concrete step to address the Kashmir dispute.
Professor Kamal Mitra Chenoy, who teaches at the Jawaharlal Nehru
University, said that the draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers
Act and Public Safety Act must go. € ¢â’ ’¼These laws are against the international
covenants signed by India,€ ¢â’ ’½ he said.
In response to a question, Prashant Bhushan, said that they were mulling to
file a petition in Indian Supreme Court to seek punishment for the troops

said that the petition would also seek release of the President of High
Court Bar Association of Kashmir, Mian Qayoom and General Secretary, Ghulam
Nabi Shaheen.

In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Indian authorities are
continuing to book innocent Kashmiris including minors under the draconian
law, Public Safety Act (PSA), to suppress the ongoing Quit Kashmir Movement.
A report published in a Srinagar based daily said that the District
Magistrate slapped PSA on Faizan Rafiq, a minor and resident of Islamabad,
last month. € ¢â’ ’¼A medical test of Faizan showed his age less than 18 years
while the District Magistrate, in detention orders, had described him as
27-years-old,€ ¢â’ ’½ it added.
The report revealed that there were many such cases where the authorities
had forged the actual age of minors in a bid to justify their illegal
detentions. € ¢â’ ’¼Towseef Hussain Butt, resident of Shopian, is another minor who
was unlawfully arrested in November 2010 by Indian police under the
draconian law. The school date of birth certificate of Towseef mentions his
age as 15 years and the police record in contrary reflects his age as 19
years,€ ¢â’ ’½ it maintained.
"Sheikh Arkam of Jogilakar Rainawari was detained under the PSA by District
Magistrate Srinagar. In his detention orders, the District Magistrate
mentioned Arkam€ ¢â’ ’¹s age as 19 years while as per school records his date of
birth is June 22, 1995,€ ¢â’ ’½ the report pointed out. In another case, it said
Basharat Yaqoub Beigh, resident of Shopian, was booked by the police under
the PSA showing him 19 years old in the record while his age as per school
certificate is 14 years.
Quoting Advocate Mir Shafaqat Hussain, the counsel of Faizan, the report
said that there were several other such cases wherein the authorities booked
the minors showing them as more than 18 years so that they could be booked
under the PSA.

termed Sen as an achiever and said she values the
work he was doing amongst the tribals in Chhattisgarh. "He could have also
made money. Instead, he decides to go to Chhattisgarh and work amongst the

"If Binayak Sen is a secessionist, so are we as we are also protesting
peacefully," she said.
Ilina Sen, wife of Dr Sen, said that the State wants to paint all forms of
dissent with the same brush. "Binayak wasn't waging
any war against the State. He was just fighting for a more inclusive
democracy," she said. Narrating her experience in Chhattisgarh after
Sen'sarrest, Ilina said that people in Raipur are wary of meeting her. "It
is very traumatic. I have lived in Raipur for 20 years," she said.
Aruna Roy, veteran social activist and member NAC,while underlining the need
to be sanguine said, "Negative use of the laws
against socially active people should be fought."
Anand Patwardhan, who has made many documentaries on riots and State
oppression, termed the situation as grave. "We live in an
undeclared emergency," he said. Poet and writer Mangalesh Dabral questioned
the authenticity of the information being doled out by different media.
"People donot know what the truth is even after sources of information have
increased considerably," he said. He lamented the fact that big money power
of the corporateshave bought off the entire media.
Roy who was a panellist on the last day of the festival, called the debate
over violence and non-violence a farce. In a
discussion moderated by Amit Sengupta, executive editor, *Hardnews. *Roy
said, "How do you expect the people in the tribal areas, in the jungles
tosit on a hunger strike after they are surrounded by the armed forces of
the State?"
She said that India itself became a colonial power after its independence in
1947 and has oppressed the people of the Northeast,
Kashmir etc. She said that the only successful secessionist movement has
been the secession of the Upper class from the lower class.
Noted lawyer *Prashant Bhushan*, another panellist termed the case against
Sen as totally absurd. "Why do we call it a free and
fair judicial system when no one has been able to get justice in
Chhattisgarh?" he asked.

law, Public Safety Act (PSA), to suppress the ongoing Quit Kashmir Movement.
A report published in a Srinagar based daily said that the District
Magistrate slapped PSA on Faizan Rafiq, a minor and resident of Islamabad,
last month. € ¢â’ ’¼A medical test of Faizan showed his age less than 18 years
while the District Magistrate, in detention orders, had described him as
27-years-old,€ ¢â’ ’½ it added.
The report revealed that there were many such cases where the authorities
had forged the actual age of minors in a bid to justify their illegal
detentions. € ¢â’ ’¼Towseef Hussain Butt, resident of Shopian, is another minor who
was unlawfully arrested in November 2010 by Indian police under the
draconian law. The school date of birth certificate of Towseef mentions his
age as 15 years and the police record in contrary reflects his age as 19
years,€ ¢â’ ’½ it maintained.
"Sheikh Arkam of Jogilakar Rainawari was detained under the PSA by District
Magistrate Srinagar. In his detention orders, the District Magistrate
mentioned Arkam€ ¢â’ ’¹s age as 19 years while as per school records his date of
birth is June 22, 1995,€ ¢â’ ’½ the report pointed out. In another case, it said
Basharat Yaqoub Beigh, resident of Shopian, was booked by the police under
the PSA showing him 19 years old in the record while his age as per school
certificate is 14 years.
Quoting Advocate Mir Shafaqat Hussain, the counsel of Faizan, the report
said that there were several other such cases wherein the authorities booked
the minors showing them as more than 18 years so that they could be booked
under the PSA.

"If Binayak Sen is a secessionist, so are we as we are also protesting

to be sanguine said, "Negative use of the laws
against socially active people should be fought."
Anand Patwardhan, who has made many documentaries on riots and State
oppression, termed the situation as grave. "We live in an
undeclared emergency," he said. Poet and writer Mangalesh Dabral questioned
the authenticity of the information being doled out by different media.
"People donot know what the truth is even after sources of information have
increased considerably," he said. He lamented the fact that big money power
of the corporateshave bought off the entire media.
Roy who was a panellist on the last day of the festival, called the debate
over violence and non-violence a farce. In a
discussion moderated by Amit Sengupta, executive editor, *Hardnews. *Roy
said, "How do you expect the people in the tribal areas, in the jungles
tosit on a hunger strike after they are surrounded by the armed forces of
the State?"
She said that India itself became a colonial power after its independence in
1947 and has oppressed the people of the Northeast,
Kashmir etc. She said that the only successful secessionist movement has
been the secession of the Upper class from the lower class.

He got so worried about the violation of rights of 'civilians' that he, with a bunch of like minded 'human rights guys' and also 'gals' went all the way from Delhi to the heart of action. Kashmir, that is. They call themselves a group by the name of 'Center for Policy analysis'. Hereis the link. They are of the opinion that in the summer of 2010, when the civilians were protesting peacefully, the monsters in uniform have killed 118 civilians. Look at the faces of these peaceful protesters. And also look at the fear in the eyes of the woman throwing stone at the forces. Do you get the picture? May be the security forces killed some innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters. May be he is right in filing a case in the supreme court of our country regarding the atrocities committed by the rogue elements in the forces. If that is the case, every right minded citizens should support the cause. But, the sense of justice should be equally applicable for Kashmiri pandits also, who have been the worst of sufferers. I will come to this point later. But first about Pakistan. I am much younger then Prashant Bhushan but I have begun to realize that I am old fashioned compared to this eminent votary of human rights. Let me explain. I think that anybody who says that we as a nation need to talk with Pakistan on Kashmir should be tried for treason and sedition because it is our internal matter and Pakistan has no role to meddle in it.
